Barbara Thornes, LMSW, ACSW
Barbara Thornes, LMSW, ACSW, is a licensed clinical social worker who earned her Masters Degree in Social Work at Michigan State University. She has been in private practice for over fifteen years. Prior to entering private practice, Barbara had clinical experience working for Community Mental Health in both Ingham and Shiawassee Counties. She also worked in the field of adoptions with children who experienced neglect or abuse, and prior to that, as a juvenile probation counselor.
Currently, Barbara works with adults, couples, and adolescents who experience depression, anxiety or other difficulties with relationships and life concerns. She believes that therapy is a process in which the therapist and client join together to discover ways to enhance the quality of daily life and promote emotionally healthy living, and that each individual has the right to determine for themselves what quality of life means to them. She is available for in-person or tele-health sessions, depending upon the client’s preference.
