Brigette Thornes, LLMSW
Brigette Thornes, LLMSW, received her MA from Michigan State University. An active member at Ele’s Place since 2014, she has worked with children and families through the grieving process in group settings, applying interventions including sand tray. During her master’s program, she provided counseling to child and adult survivors of domestic violence at EVE, and she was also trained in TFCBT. Before pursing her MSW, Brigette received her MA in English from New Mexico Highlands University and taught English at Lansing Community College for twelve years. She also is the author of a speculative fiction series (the Layna series) and a children’s chapter book, The Wheelers on Wheels.
Brigette takes a strengths-based approach to therapy, using elements from ACT and positive psychology. She focuses on self-compassion and helps clients define what a healthy, full-filling life means to them as a unique individual. She creates a safe space for clients from all walks of life, regardless of race, religion, gender identity, or sexual orientation. She sees individual children, teens, and adults.
